Lingo Lens is operated by Ronan Craig trading as Lingo Lens ("we", "us", "our"). Our website is lingo-lens.io and you can contact us at privacy@lingo-lens.io.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Account data. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your display name. This is processed by Google Firebase Authentication. We use this data to identify your account, enforce your subscription quota, and contact you if needed about your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Usage data. We store your monthly translation count (quota used), subscription plan (free or pro), and the date your quota resets. This data is stored in Google Firestore and is used to enforce fair usage limits and display your quota in the app. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
App settings. We store your app preferences (target language, source language, translation engine, and display settings) in Google Firestore so they sync across sessions. This data is tied to your account. Legal basis: legitimate interests (providing a consistent user experience).
Translation content. When you translate text, the text captured from your screen is sent to our translation server for processing. If you use the Google Translate engine, this text is passed to the Google Cloud Translation API. If you use the OpenAI engine, this text is sent to OpenAI. We do not store translation content — it is processed in memory and discarded immediately after a response is returned. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Payment data. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, who act as Merchant of Record. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Paddle stores billing information in accordance with their own privacy policy. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Paddle via a webhook. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Options → Delete account). When you delete your account we delete your Firestore user document, cancel any active subscription via Paddle, and delete your Firebase Authentication record.
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the following processors as necessary to provide the service:

The Lingo Lens desktop app does not use cookies. Our website (lingo-lens.io) may use essential cookies for basic functionality. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are used.
Lingo Lens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by displaying a notice in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
